The Masakhe Indoda Club for
years, has been known as a club that uplifts only men, however, that narrative
has been gradually shifting to “what about the boy child”. For a society to
thrive with responsible men, there needs to be an intervention at an early
stage and that is where Masakhe Indoda Club has decided to be inclusive to as well. Teaching a
boy child about responsibility, accountability and equip them on how to be a better
man in future.
With this shift, Masakhe Indoda Club
collaborated with the Department of Social Development to raise awareness of
drug abuse. This insightful session was hosted at Loyiso Senior Secondary
School in Gqeberha whereby learners and the school availed themselves to listen
and engage in this initiative. The session aimed to educate, empower, and
encourage young people to make informed, healthy life choices while building
resilience against substance abuse.
With many of our communities
riddled with substance abuse and the negative impact it leaves behind, Masakhe
Indoda Club aims to make a positive and lasting impact by equipping young
people and shaping them for their future while promoting healthier lifestyle and
focusing more one their well being as men of tomorrow.
This was a successful session
with learners given a platform to also pose questions they have and some were
granted an opportunity to identify the causes leading to substance abuse and
how it can be prevented.
